Anyone wanna help a new user out?

So i have a 2002 Jeep grand cherokee limited V8 that i have owned for about 7 months now. I have see that when the weather is warmer my temp. gage goes from just a little above 3/8 mark to the middle for a little and then goes back down in a few mins. I also saw this when i was driving in the mountions one time. I dont know if this is normal or if i have a problem. All my fluids are where they should be and everything seems normal. If anyone can help me that would be great! Thanks!

Re: Anyone wanna help a new user out?

ThermoStat is not engaging when it's suppose to or it's stuck at times. Replaced the Thermostat, go to Advanced Auto Parts or AutoZone and replace it. It should fix your problem.

Re: Anyone wanna help a new user out?

Just after reading through the owners manual, it says...
The gage pointer will likely indicate a higher temp (above center scale) when driving in hot weather, up mountion grades, or when towing a trailer. I have noticed this when im driving for a while. Its not like it happens in the first few mins the car is on. Its usually if im driving for more than 30-45 mins. I just wanted to see if anyone else had seen this problem.

Re: Anyone wanna help a new user out?

The temp should be, ideally, no higher than 210. at 220 degrees the PCM commands the fan to go to a high speed.

With a stock tune, mine hovers in between 180 and 210, with SCT mine stays between 180-185.

Re: Anyone wanna help a new user out?

Yeah, mine sits at around 180˚F with the SuperChips tune.

Except when my callipers stick on and then it goes to halfway in traffic, as soon as you're moving at speed (40+) the wind cools it down somewhat. New callipers going on Friday to fix this!
