Re: azc has no heat

The outside or cooled air is routed or via the heater core, or it is bypassing it (via the blend doors). So the airco working or not doesn't have any influence on the heating itself. So your problem must be or both blend doors not working, or your heater core or heater lines are plugged or restricted.

Re: azc has no heat

it did sit for four years, im thinking a clog might be the case because according to the previous owner everything worked fine. im gonna charge the ac, then see if anything leaks and go from there i guess. Any tips of what to look for? i'll check codes too... thabks guys, i appreciate all the help.

Re: azc has no heat

ok update, KJHBDFJBVGWEBRW$&YBKNVB FNG . I feel better. So i went to recharge the ac and barely put any refrigerant in and blew the hose. Something is hooked up backwards is my guess??? Anyones opinion would be great here... Im flying blind with ac and heater stuff.... Im also betting theres a clog somewhere as I heard water running behind the dash, i didn't notice any water dripping, but I will be putting down a rag or paper or something to see if it gets wet... I'm sad now. Another replacement part...-

Re: azc has no heat

If you can hear the water running behind the dash, then it should be quite some leak and you should be able to spot it quickly. Is it really a water leak what you hear, or is there maybe air trapped inside the heater core which makes the sounds? Don't know about any bleed procedure though. Did you already check the heater hoses in the engine bay if they are not twist mounted or maybe have a too sharp bend, which would restrict the liquid flow a lot?
Did you feel the heater hoses if they become hot quickly after starting the engine first time of the day?
Regarding the A/C filling, i have no idea what went wrong there. Was the hose in a good condition, or was it maybe dry and could not resist the pressure anymore?

Does the ac have to work for the heat to work???

frist off you do not have to remove the dash
and your motors are fine. you can replace the motor on the passenger side simple the driver side is hard to replace without removing the dash

52 = AI (Recirc) door travel range too large
54 = Left temperature door travel too large
56 = Right temperature door travel too large

54 and 56 is the broken blend door
there is a simple fix that you can make a hole behind the glove box and change teh broken parts in under an hour.
i did a write up on it and its not had look http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f13/d...p-pics-884932/

the cheapest kit now adays that lets you keep dual control is sold by jeep for $100 and under
part number 68080867AA Mid-Case Blend Door Housing Repair Kit - Item # 68080867AA & 5134353AA

now for 52 you have to remove the dash to replace the door. but what most people do it just keep it prompted open all the time. some drill a hole in it and tie wrap it to the grid and other screw a pice of metal to hold it up.
can access it from the glove box aswell but on the otehr end and more up
this link has some pics and info http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f310/...x-pics-347814/

the kit should work for you but email the guys at justforjeep or go to your local dealer and ask why they say 5134353AA is only for 02-04 and 68080867AA is for 99-01

hope it helps and dont go back to that mechanic for this help. it could be he is just outdated on how to fix this or was going to do the threw the dash fix and charge for removing the dash.
when i had first had this a local shop gave me the price of $1600 for labor and parts and wanted to flush the cooling since even though they were not touching anything that involved it in my jeep since another model with dual control said too. since i did not want to spend that i did not have heat on the passenger side that year then did the fix i did a writ up on.

Re: azc has no heat

k... um... i didn't go to any mechanic for this yet, wasn't going to. I know you guys got it all dialed. And i'm not afraid to give it a good go myself first. I will check the heater hoses tomorrow. I did the diagnostic, still getting 52, 54, 56. First thing, as i depressed both buttons, the whole screen lit up. I assume that's normal. I don't notice any sounds of motors as i change the temp settings, just the speed of the air coming out. You guys are probably right. Blend doors prolly stuck. the ac i can't figure out, didn't put two ounces in and the hose blew out, watched the pressure rise on the gauge till POP! Happened too fast to do damn thing about it. Hose might not have been good, as I said, it sat for four years. i don't know. i will just start with checking the hoses and see if they get hot. Roomie says they may be switched, in to out and out to in, but I don't even remember disconnecting them...

Okay yea, checking my manual, theres no way the ac lines are switched, i never disconnected them...

Re: azc has no heat

the blend doors being stuck wouldn't have blown out the ac hose would it?

Re: azc has no heat

k, i didn't think so but the thought did cross my mind... so what is my best approach... when i did the recalibration, i did hear something moving but it was only a slight noise, not real discernible... will i be able to see the doors move if i do it again with the glove box off??

Re: azc has no heat

When you remove the glove box, you will only be able to see the drivers side blend door actuator. The passenger side blend door actuator is (very nicely ) hidden on the back side of the HVAC unit and can only be reached removing the whole dash unit. When you do the recalibration, both blend doors ,the recirculation door and the mode door will move, but the actuators make a little noise only.
