I was driving the other day with the heat on and the blower motor just shut off. I can still feel the heat but there is no fan to blow it out
I have a limited so it has the Auto Zone Control
1. Checked the 40A Fuse and it is good
2. I can hear the blend doors move when I change the position of the selector knob
3. I want to take a look at the problem myself as I consider myself fairly handy with things
From the web I think the blower motor is behind the glove box and it looks fairly easy to get to.
I also know about the burned connector problems. So my questions are does anyone have more trouble shooting tips and what is the exact procedure to get to the motor and dismantle the glove box?
there ya go, remove motor and check for power/ground if those good supply own power ground to motor if motor bad replace. IF no power/ground to plug of motor replace resistor or control panel which ever it is
You won´t have to do anything with the glove box, the blower motor is accessable from below the passengers footwell. Just three screws and it will come down. The blower motor controller sits just next to the blower motor, indeed check the connector on it, because most of the times its just melted away. In that case you could buy a new connector, or just solder the wires directly to the controller board. See here for a writeup on this: Replacing Blower Motor Resister Wiring.
It is ofcourse possible that the controller itself is the problem or in remote cases the blower motor itself. You can measure directly on the blower motor connector between points 1 and 2 to see if you have voltage there, see attached schematic.
