Bad TPS??

My 02, 4.0 doesn't like to shift from first to second, hot or cold. I can feather the pedal and force the shift otherwise it revs to around 2300 +/- before shifting hard into second. There are no other symptoms of a bad TPS, just the shifting issue. SO is the TPS bad or is there something else I need to check? (no codes are set)

Re: Bad TPS??

Yes, there is a good change that the TPS is the problem.
It could be something with transmission governor pressure sensor, but that normally will set a DTC.

Re: Bad TPS??

Thanks for the response. The TPS is only about $40 bucks, but I hate to just throw money at something without knowing for sure that i'm throwing it in the right direction.

Re: Bad TPS??

All of my reading says buy the Mopar TPS - money well spent as the aftermarket units are known to not play well with the electronics of the WJ.

I did hear about it, but run an aftermarket rockauto TPS since a year and a half and no problems.
