Battery Drain

I'm having problems with my 2001 4.0l Grand Cherokee having a flat battery every so often. When trickle charged again its fine for another month or so. A volt meter shows 12.6 volts at the battery with engine off, going to 14.2 at tick over. An amp meter show a drain of 0.17 on the 10 amp scale ?
I have tried pulling fuses to see what effect this has, but can not find the switch that operates the interior lights in the door jam to stop the interior lights coming on whilst pulling fuses. Any ideas?

Re: Battery Drain

You can use the dim switch on the left switch stalk. Turning it completely counterclock wise will keep the interior lights off.
170 mA is indeed too much, but take care that some modules can stay powered from several minutes for up to 15 minutes or so after switching ignition in off, before they will go into sleep mode. Messing with doors will wake up the BCM for example.

Re: Battery Drain

Must admit I forgot that you could switch lights off with dimmer switch. What sort of figure should be registering with all off, and where is the switch that lets it know the door is open?

Re: Battery Drain

A max 50 mA can be considered as normal. The door ajar switches are part of the door latch mechanisms.
