Before I buy, questions...
I am new to the forum and to the Jeep world. I have taken an interest in the Grand Cherokee line. WJ model I think. I was wanting a 2004 year model just because I like the body style and that was the last year for it. However, I have seen a 2000 parked about a mile from my house for several months and finally found out who owned it. Called them and they said they were interested in selling. But, the engine had a knocking noise and they had added an engine additive to it and the oil light came on. They shut it off and changed the oil and that the light went back out. His guess was that the oil was to thick with the additive. I looked all under the jeep and saw no damage and the only oil I saw was on the tranny. I have seen a couple of posts on here about engine knocking and it didn't seem to be a major problem. ( Like new engine needed ) Two questions for everyone, First what should I check on the engine knock, if it is a knock and not a tick. Second, does the transmission have a problem with the factory seal? Some models of engines and transmissions have such querks. Thanks for helping me shop for my first jeep. Oh! by the way, it is red and the plastic trim is bleached grey can that be brought back to life. Thanks again.
