I donīt know the ZJ, but on the WJ with manual system, only the blend door actuator is electrical and the rest vacuum controlled. But you have the luxury of taking an other car when it is cold, so can understand that it doesnīt bother you that much.

Re: Blend doors and intermitent heat

Thanks for the feedback everyone. I have not had time to do a lot of looking and probably won't until the weekend, but this morning I watched my blend doors move up when I started the car (I still have put the plastic piece back) and I had freezing cold air come out of that area even after driving for 30 minutes.

I wonder if this problem is not related to my radiator problem from last week. In another post I asked about a coolant leak which turned out to be from the radiator. I had the radiator replaced exactly a week ago and the shop that did the work was puzzled because they said the core looked like an accordeon and it looked like the radiator just blew up.

It was the original Mopar radiator, so at 9 years of age and 92k miles I did not really worry about it at the time. Now that my no heat mystery is slowly taking me to the heater core, I wonder if it's not all related. The car never overheated and it seems to warm up at a normal rate. The temp gauge goes to just under 210 degrees.

looked like an accordian...just blew up....not descriptions that make sense, hoses blow not rads. now it's sounding like an air lock in the heater core, or no coolant flow to it. do the heater hoses both get hot?

The radiator had a slow leak and I know the radiator would not just blow up which is why I did not really worry about what he said.

I did a quick under hood touch test yesterday while getting gas. Both heater hoses were hot. Makes no sense.

I'll either deal with it over the weekend or take it in for diagnosis.
