Broke Something Connected To My Airconditioning

Decided to look for a non existent relay behind the glove box the other day and unscrewed a component (see picture below) from the firewall.
It came off and went back on alright, but now my air conditioning hardly blows air out of the vent. If i pull it off and reseat it the aircon blows for a couple of days and then stops.

Is anyone able to enlighten me what I have broken this time and a possible solution please?

I kind of suspect that I have introduced myself to blend door problems

Sorry all,
Unable to upload photo at this stage but the component is the only one there once you unhinge the glove box draw. It has plug on top, sits on 3 lugs and has white female fitting in the centre, which I assume opens and closes a vent behind the wall.

Okay, working on it soon.
By the way the HIR bulbs finally turned up yesterday. Got impatient 2 days ago and connected HID's and in the half hour I decided to test them out on the road, I got pulled over and told to remove them.
The laws of luck really suck sometimes......
Can't help me with the air conditioning problem????

Still no pic? I'm going to guess that it's your blower motor resistor. Does it maybe have a part number stamped on it that we can look up?

Wait, you got pulled over for running the HID's or HIR's?

Did you have them in a projector housing or the OEM headlight?

Let me know what you think of the HIR's and if it's any improvement over stock. I'm thinking about getting some for my father since he won't let me do a retro in his truck lol.

Behind the glove box is the drivers side blend door actuator. But this should not have much to do with the low airflow you have now. Below the glove box on the underside of the HVAC housing sits the blower motor and next to it the resistor pack (manual temp control) or Blower motor controller (automatic temp control).
It looks that you have a bad connector on the blower motor controller. When the pins get too wide due to vibration after a long time of operation( or maybe got damaged during removal/installation), they create a resistance and will heat up the connector, which will finally melt and the blower motor stops working completely. There is a repair kit for the connector available from MOPAR.
I see now that you are really talking about the blend door actuator for the drivers side, that is the only component behind the glove box. Strange though that your blower motor will not blow, because that has nothing to do with the blend door position. Maybe it has nothing to do with the connector you had removed?

Thanks all, My laptop/internet connection doesn't want to play the game to upload the photo,so I'll work with taking actuator off the spare car and seeing if it makes a difference with a swap and see if I did something different when I pulled it away from the wall. Then if that is not a simple fix, will read up and then ask how I need to tackle the blower repair. Not looking forward to the cost of the Mopar kit. Should know better than to pull things apart just for curiosities sake. Side note: I have removed the HID's, and will post (when I can) photos of HIR comparisons to standard if anyone is interested. Gee, I miss those HID's already.....

When you were pulled over with the HID's were you running them in your stock lights or the Gen III projectors?

Having read up on the wjjeep site I'll look at hard wiring the changes rather than purchasing the MOPAR kit.

Side note:
Spyder CCFL Gen III Headlamps now has HIR low and high beams. They never went back in easy, did all the required trimming but the high beam bulb was an extremely tight fit, and rather than cutting a piece out of the plastic wall where the headlights sit on the jeep, the only option was to reconnect the plug (on the other side of the wall) once the headlamps were reseated. Why didn't they create a straight fitting rather than a 90 degree bend..........
Definite improvement on highs, but only a slight difference with the lows .

You could always trim a pair of high-beam HIR's for the low-beam.

Being a right hand driven vehicle, i can only presume that the HVAC housing is just the same as for LH driven vehicles. So then that actuator is or the recirculation door actuator or the mode door actuator. When you select the air direction to windshield, do you feel the air coming out overthere? And when you select the front outlets? Or the mode door actuator is somewhere halfway or the recirculation door actuator. When you do the selftest, which codes do show up?


ENTERING THE AZC SELF-DIAGNOSTIC MODE
To enter the AZC self-diagnostic mode, perform the
following:
(1) Depress the a/c and recirc buttons at the same
time and hold. Rotate the left temperature control
knob clockwise (CW) one detent.
(2) If you continue to keep the a/c and recirc buttons
depressed, the AZC control module will perform
a Segment Test of the Vacuum Fluorescent (VF) display.
In the Segment Test you should see all of the
display segments illuminate as long as both buttons
are held. If a display segment fails to illuminate, the
vacuum fluorescent display is faulty and the a/c
heater control must be replaced.
(3) After viewing the Segment Test, release the
A/C and Recirc buttons and the display will clear

momentarily.
If a 0 is displayed, then no faults

are set in the system.


Should there be any faults,

either


currentor historical, all fault codes will be

displayed in ascending numerical sequence (note no

effort is made to display fault codes in chronological

order). Each fault code is displayed for one second
before the next code is displayed. Once all fault codes
have been displayed, the system will then repeat the
fault code numbers. This will continue until the left
side set temperature control is moved at least one
detent position in the CW direction or the ignition is





turned OFF.

I donīt know if its possible, but maybe the respective door changed position when you removed the actuator and now the actuator canīt move it anymore. because its at its end stop. You could do the calibration test, because then all actuators will be moved from full open to full closed.

1. Turn the ignition on. 2. Set the HVAC to auto. 3. Turn the ignition off. 4. Remove IOD fuse. Wait 90 seconds before reinstalling. 5. Start the vehicle. You will hear sound of the doors moving. 6. Do not touch any of the AZC controls for at least one minute to allow the calibration function to run to completion. This forces the system into a recalibrate the full open and full closed position of the doors. (IOD fuse = ignition off draw fuse. Its positioned in the PDC under the hood at position 15)
