Cabin tempreture problem this morning?

For some strange reason I was getting hot air on the passenger side but not the drivers side. I could control the direction of flow, up,down etc.
This went on for 5 miles so i fiddeled with all the controls untill I wound the drivers side temp knob down to its lowest point, then back up to the highest setting and the heat came back on.
I'll try and check the fault codes later at home, but is this the start of something going wrong long term?

Re: Cabin tempreture problem this morning?

I also had a few times a problem like this, but it never turned into a real problem. For whatever reason the system stopped reacting, but after ignition off/on all went back to normal. Have a look at the fault codes and let us know.

Re: Cabin tempreture problem this morning?

Happened to me once before. Turned out the cold weather made one of the blend doors stick and it was blasting out cold air. My blend doors are fine cause they have been replaced in the past.

Re: Cabin tempreture problem this morning?

Correct me if Im wrong, but I thought the doors just directed the air flow to the desired vent. Do they also control the selection of hot/cold air ?

As far as I recall, they open one way for hot and another for cold. At least that's what I was told.

Re: Cabin tempreture problem this morning?

In fact the air always passes true the airconditioning evaporator and can bypass the heater core, depending on the blend door position. In cold selection, all air passes by the heater core and in hot selection all air passes true the heater core.
The selection of the airflow is done by the mode door(windshield/instrument panel vents or floor vents). Then we also have a recirculation door, which closes off the outside air when put in recirculation position.
