Can't get headlights out

I just got some HID's and im wanting to put them in my 60th Anniversary Edition 01 jeep grand cherokee limited. Ive watched videos on how to take out the headlights and tried (took out the long screw) but it wont seem to nudge out. My question is, is the 60th Anniversary Edition any different from the regular model?

Re: Can't get headlights out

I have never heard of any different headlight unit. They are hold in place with 3 ball joints and can be a bit stiff to get out the first time. Just some muscle power will do the trick normally.

Re: Can't get headlights out

The housings are the same as other WJ's, take the bolts out and they pop out. Then just take the old bulbs out, put the HIDs in, and put them back in. I run my ballasts on the same side as the lights mounted along the sides.

Re: Can't get headlights out

after the long bolt, get a long screw driver and pry at the top clip and outside clip, after free you should be able to pull on it and get the third one. some of the clips came out on the lights 'ball joint' pop em off and put them back in the front before you snap the light back in.

Re: Can't get headlights out

Those ball and sockets can be REALLY tight. The first time I removed mine, I had to pry at it with a prybar between the frame and the back of the housing to get them to release. You might want to tuck a towel or something between the bottom of the headlight and the top of the bumper cover so when it does pop out, it doesn't damage the paint. Pry gently. You're dealing with a lot of plastic. Once I got mine out, I sprayed the plastic "sockets" with some lubricant and have not had any issues since.
