always always ALWAYS (IMHO) open the bleeder when pushing the caliper pistons back in. No sense pushing all that abused fluid back into the system.
I usually use one of the old brake pads and a Jorgensen carpenter's clamp to crank the piston back in. Make sure you don't pinch the boot. The piston should be almost flush with the caliper face when it is fully retracted.
