My 02 WJ Ltd 4.7 V8 had some cooling / heating issues a couple of months ago. It started out with a radiator leak and after radiator replacement there was no heat. I thought it was blend door related but they turned out to be functional. I posted a thread and feedback pointed to a clogged heater core. Heat magically returned one day and has not left since, so I am guessing there was air trapped in the system from the radiator replacement and it worked itself out after multiple heating / cooling cycles.
It's been about 2 months / 3,000 miles since this happened and while I should be happy that all is working fine now, I am convinced the shop did not use the proper procedure to bleed the sytem and as a result, I am not trusting what they said about the coolant they used. They put in Prestone coolant, they said it is an ethylene glycol formula they put in everything
and it would be fine for the Jeep.
Since I intend on keeping this car for 2 to 3 more years, I would really feel better if it had the HOAT special sauce Chrysler recommends. So, should I drain the Prestone and put in the HOAT coolant? If yes, do I need to do anyting other than drain and fill per the procedure at wjjeeps.com? Knowing I had that no heat episode, should I leave it alone since everything is working just fine right now.
