Hi Guys, can anybody help with my faulty cruise control?
When i try and activate the cruise control on/off switch the green indication light on the dash facia sometime lights up and sometimes does not.
If it does light up it will only stop on for a matter of a few seconds then goes out , it doesn't even give me time to try and set the cruise.
Not sure where to start to look for the fault, my thinking is that if it were a vacuum fault i would have thought the cruise on light will still stop on , I know a faulty vacuum would not let me set the cruise.
ANY IDEA's

It can be that there is a problem with the on/off switch on the steering wheel.
Also did you check for any DTC set?

DTC = Diagnostic Trouble Code. Did you do the key dance to retrieve the fault codes from the PCM?

Just checked it on my jeep, but as soon as the engine is running, you can already select cruise and the blue light comes on. It will only go off when selecting with the switch or when switching the ignition in off.

The clockspring is a device in the steering wheel which makes it possible to turn the steering wheel without braking the wires.

Hi,
I've managed to spend a few hours today trying to get to the bottom of the problem, i did the key dance and found it showed two fault codes P1595 and P1683.
I've checked for vacuum leaks but none were found.
I may have to drop it into the agents.

Those 2 codes show that there probably is a problem with the power supply from the PCM to the electronic speed control servo. That could be a wire problem, but it also could have to do with the brake pedal switch. If you have a multimeter, you could check the switch. Measure resistance between points 3 and 4 of the brake switch with the pedal NOT touched. You should have 0 Ohms. If the resistance is very high, or the switch should be adjusted, or its faulty. Your brake lights could still be working ok, because they use a separate switch deck.

ADJUSTMENT
(1) Press and hold brake pedal in applied position.
(2) Pull switch plunger all the way out to fully
extended position.
(3) Release brake pedal. Then pull pedal lightly
rearward. Pedal will set plunger to correct position
as pedal pushes plunger into switch body. Switch will
make ratcheting sound as it self adjusts.
CAUTION: Booster damage may occur if the pedal
pull exceeds 20 lbs.

If the problem is not the brake switch, it can be the wiring between PCM and speed control servo solenoids, the solenoids themselves or even the PCM.
