Take a close look, its somewhat common for the fitting to leak on the pressure hose right out of the pump. The best way to fix it is to get the new design hose from either a dealership or Just for Jeeps. Although I just looked at their website and they only have the hose for the V8 with the hydraulic fan... but rock auto seems to have them for the 4.0. Not sure on the 4.0 you might be able to get away with just a new o-ring on the fitting. If I remember right my rusted out 200k mi. ZJ 4.0L power steering hose was easier to replace than my 13k WJ. That was a fun experience, it started making noise, I popped the hood and saw fluid all over, I had my brother start the jeep and put some pressure on the wheel, it damn near shot me in the face from the crack in the top of the hose! Good luck finding the leak.

I'm 99.999% sure this is the leak. I filled the box on Friday to the "full" line, I checked it this morning and the thing was already below the "add" level!




You can't really tell in this photo but everything underneath the power steering box is soaked. I cleaned it all on Friday.



So I'm thinking new pump? I'm gonna clean it on Friday and have someone full turn right/left.

Have you tried tightening that fitting at all? The fact that there is clear line around the tubing where it meets the nut tells me it's been moved recently, or that the line is loose and that nut needs to be tightened down. It's free and worth a shot!

It either needs to be tightened, needs a new o-ring, or needs new hose. I'm quite confident the fitting/pipe is leaking not the pump and that just the hose needs to be replaced. Worked for me that way anyway.

The nut wasn't loose. I'm gonna clean it out really good so I can try and see where the fluid is coming from. I plan to replace o-ring, fitting, piping, then pump in that order if nothing works.

Hole-y Sh!it today was crazy. So I got up and left for work at 4 (I started at 5 and had a 45 minute drive). Stopped at the 7-11 and picked up some necessities. Topped off the Power Steering and drove off. As I pulled into work, I smelled something burning and turned to pull into a spot, except no power steering. I thought I blew the pump. But then I saw smoke coming out of the hood. I parked and popped the hood only to find my belt on top of my engine!

Long story short-er: My idler pulley froze up and got pulled off by the belt. Replaced the idler as well as the belt and while it was in the shop the found the Power Steering leak. It was the Hi-press hose leaking below the pump.

So as of now, now issues! Minus the door actuators.

I hate posting in this thread lol.

I lost my passenger fog about two weeks ago. Two nights ago I was looking around and messing with the wires when I lost both fogs. I checked the fuse box and discovered the fuse had blown. I thought "Yes. Easy fix!". WRONG! I put in a new fuse turned on the fogs and POP that fuse blew. So I'm thinking I have a short-circuit somewhere. I don't even know where to start. I might have to turn this one over to the stealership.
