Door lock actuator...

My driver door has been plagued with the "quack" since I first bought my 2000 WJ limited. I have to manually lock and unlock the door and all that business because at this point it's completely useless.

Anyways, I'm sick of it and have been trying to find the actuator online for a decent price and seem to be having a hard time. Actually I'm having a hard time finding it at even a not-so-reasonable price. Does anybody know of any place?

Also any tips or tricks from anyone who's encountered this (which I'm thinking should be a lot) are helpful.

Thanks!

Re: Door lock actuator...

I got locally at a junk yard. I think I paid 30 for each side. I replaced driver's and passenger side up front. Easy enough. Pretty quick job. You can also try to shoot Sean sean66 at insightms.com and email. He is on another jeep forum and has multiple WJs that he is parting out. I have ordered parts from him in the past. Ebay had some decent prices also for used. Not sure as far as new though

Re: Door lock actuator...

It's pretty straight forward job. My back left went out about a year ago. I went to a junkyard, got one from WJ there and it just went out again. So this time I'm not gonna be so cheap and get an aftermarket one. You can go the junkyard route if you want, I've heard of them lasting forever, and I've heard of some lasting days. I'm probably gonna order both (yes both. Back left is done and passenger is going) from Amazon for 55 a piece.

Re: Door lock actuator...

Funny you both mentioned the junk yard. I actually got one from the junk yard when I first got the jeep 3 years ago... It had the exact same problem from the moment I put it in, so I'm weary of wasting the money again. Wish there was just some kind of recall on these things considering it's so common.

Anyways thanks for the suggestions!
