Driver door module doesnt work!!!

Hi All

car is my 04 limited model. since few days my door module is not responding most of the time, occasionally it does work but dies again after sometime, now it completely stopped working. i did search and thought may be the wires are cut in the door-body boot but all seems well. what could be wrong.

symptoms : nothing on the driver door module works. computer doesnt say the door is open or however for all other doors it warns. power mirror, power window, locks etc all that exist on door dont work.

Things i tried: replaced the whole door panel with a new panel that i bought at wreckers but no luck. checked door-body boot for broken wires but no luck.

please help this is getting expensive.

Welcome to the garage.
You can have a wire break with the isolation of the wire still intact. Did you try to bend the wires in the rubber boot one by one to feel if there is a weak point in one of them?

yup the Orange thick cable is broke. had a hell of a time pulling the socket off the door with no luck. just cutted, joined and taped for now.

wasted buying a panel trim from wreckers.

Re: Driver door module doesnt work!!!

The orange wire is the power feed to the door module. On mine the thick black ground wire broke some years ago and i did a "temporary" repair on it. Its still like that

Re: Driver door module doesnt work!!!

Just a heads up, if you remove the driver kick panel, you can disconnect the wires from the door itself and, with some gently persuasion, feed the whole loom through the side and inside to the floorboard. I would recommend doing this if you have some time and checking all the other wires. Just some preventative checking that might help get rid of future problems.
