Re: emergency brake light on in 99 wj

Bad contact in the switch. Switch is loose. Check it at the base of your e brake

Re: emergency brake light on in 99 wj

Probably the switch, but not always the case. Mine is coming on at 20mph. There is no mechanical fault with the brakes, they've been extensively checked. According to the manual, the light indicates a leak, which I don't have.

Get it looked at first bro and make sure there's no leaks etc

Re: emergency brake light on in 99 wj

The light will be switched on in 3 cases: by the handbrake lever switch, or by a low fluid level in the brake hydraulic reservoir or with certain faults in the Anti lock brake system (mostly accompanied with the ABS light as well).
I would start checking the fluid level. If it comes on again and the fluid level was checked ok, move the handbrake lever a bit up-down to see if it goes out.
Could be a faulty handbrake lever switch, a faulty fluid level switch or a wiring problem.
