Engine harness tape?

Hi again! I recently did the head gaskets on my 99 4.7 and a few of the harnesses had the tape start to unravel from the black plastic looms. I know from previous experience that regular electrical tape will not hold up to heat and will get ugly fast!
I remember when I was in Air Force we had a rubbery tape (called it F4 tape) that would stretch and take all kinds of heat/movement on planes. I see the tape on the harness is kinda textured, any idea where to get it, or what do you use that wont melt and ooze adhesive?

If I get this done can I post in the mods thread?

Re: Engine harness tape?

I've had great luck with 3m electrical tape in my engine bay. Theres a lot of "custom wiring" in there for my winch, AV stuff, Dual Battery setup, exc... It holds up MUCH BETTER than the off brand stuff.

I believe that 3M also makes that textured electrical tape as the OEM uses.

Re: Engine harness tape?

you can get the mopar harness tape... iirc its not too badly priced, I use it on everything that is visible at work. Call a dealer parts department and see if they can find it for you, iirc it is not called "tape" of any sort according to the part number and it was MUCH cheaper than I though it was going to be (even though the shop pays for my supplies ).

If you have no luck, in my tool box at work I saved the wrapper with the part number for this very reason and Ill grab the number when I go in on tuesday. Its great stuff!
