Re: eridom

it is SUPER common, dependant on where you have it done you may be looking anywhere from 200-350 dollars per axle to repair. My shop charges 1.6 hr per side at 109 per hour you looking at over 200 in labor alone.

take a gander here friend. Jack up the truck under pumpkin (carefully with wood block), remove wheels, set stands under frame rails and slowly lower rear end so the rear axle is free. Remove calipers, rotors, 4 flange bolts. Follow thread. Ordered parts will be cheaper than auto parts store. Good luck, can be done easily. V8 and I6 (D44, D35) are identical part, procedure.

Re: eridom

the D35 and D44 are not "identical" parts, similar parts and identical operation but identical parts no... the D44 has larger axle shafts.

also you can just lift the rear from the pumpkin then use jackstands on the axle tubes.

Re: eridom

05 JGC is correct, these are different axle shafts, however the bearing, retainer, seal, and collar are interchangeable. Drooping the rear axle will allow the diff to be topped off after procedure is complete, with adequate pump this can be done with the axle tubes sitting on jack stands; correct you are.
