Re: Erratic Transmission Shifts

Did you check the old brake switch to see if it had a problem? Due to the fact that pulling up the brake pedal did solve the problem, it seemed to be a switch adjustment problem. You did change the switch, so you saw the ratcheting adjustment feature it has.
But this is a good one to remember when multiple problems arrise at the same time.

Re: Erratic Transmission Shifts

I put a digital meter, in every combination, of all the connectors. It would buzz a "short" on only two seperate combination. It seemed to me the actual switch had to be pressed in almost 1/4 of the way to make that happen. As far as the ratchet action, seemed to me theres only 2 position.( i found this out by accident) If you push the switch hard it snaps down into a second possition. Takes about the same amount of pressure to get it to snap back up. The movement of the swich(the in and out) didnt change in either possition

Re: Erratic Transmission Shifts

If the brake switch is working properly, then its probably well adjusted. But as far as i remember, there are several clicks in the plunjer mechanism for adjustment reasons. The switch is in fact self adjusting, this is the procedure according the manual:
ADJUSTMENT
(1) Press and hold brake pedal in applied position.
(2) Pull switch plunger all the way out to fully
extended position.
(3) Release brake pedal. Then pull pedal lightly
rearward. Pedal will set plunger to correct position
as pedal pushes plunger into switch body. Switch will
make ratcheting sound as it self adjusts.
