Error code 1762

Hi everyone,

I'm very much a newbie and women, so if this has been hashed 100x or is common sense, please forgive my ignorance and have some patient for me!:)

Here is a short description of problem:
We have a 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4.0 streight 6 engine 4x4

We just changed the oil and oil filter (10W30) in our Jeep. First day it was ok, and next day when we start the engine we heard a loud ticking noise. When accelerating and reach approximately 80km/ per hour (approx. 50 miles/hour) the noise is less noticeable. The noise is louder when the engine is cold and it is less noticeable with warm engine and hires speed. The first tough was that we have a problem with lifters. We checked the lifters they are perfectly fine. We also changed oil, checked for metal peace’s, but nothing. Put on computer and computer show error code 1762. Do you have idea what that can be???

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!

Thanks for reading

Re: Error code 1762

Welcome to the garage, and donīt worry, we are patient
The code you have has to do with the transmission:
P1762: GOV Pressure Sen Offset Volts Too Low Or High. This has probably to do with a bad governor pressure sensor. Did you experience any change in the shifting of the transmission? I would errase this code to see if it comes back, before doing any other troubleshooting.
But this, to me, should have nothing to do with the noise you are hearing. Sometimes using a different brand of oil could cause a change in the engine noises, even if it is the same viscocity. But how where the hydraulic lifters checked?
