Front diff ratio

im trying to find out what gear ratio my front diff is running , the rear is a dana 44 with a 3.73 open diff but im trying to find out what the front is

From my understanding both have to be the same or the drivetrain will fall apart. So if you know your rear is 3.73 then the front should be the same.

i thought that the gearing would be differnt due to the transfer case

If the gearing was different at each axle one of them would spin faster than the other, regardless of how much power was being sent each way from the transfer case. Also, in 4 low the power is split 50/50. Even in low traction situations this could cause trouble.

cool thanks i called a local 4x4 place and they said the the gear ratio would be different in the front because of the transfer case but it looks like they are idiots lol

Lol from my research they are. In some cases I guess the gears are done differently on purpose, but that is for off roading or racing.
