Front differential rebuild
Anyone tackled this project themselves?
I'm dealing with a howl coming from my front end that I've been chasing for awhile. I thought it was wheel issues, but have replaced all 4 wheels recently. I then thought it could be the chop on my tires after having alignment issues last year, but I've ruled that out too.
I've ordered new differential fluid and limited slip additive, but I'm hesitant to do that if in going to go ahead and rebuild my diff gears. I flushed it about 15k miles ago, but the howl never really went away and it's worse now. Plus I see some fine metal on the plug when I pull it.
So I've priced out a rebuild kit, but looking for some input into how hard it is to do. And whether I should do it in the vehicle or pull the entire differential and do it from a work bench.
Thanks in advance
