I saw a small crack in the rubber boot of the front propeller shaft aft CV joint. (so the one close to the T-case) Sofar i'm not able to find the boot, only a complete CV joint kit. Does anybody know if/where i can find the rubber boot?

Frank could you pump some grease in there and use a little rtv to seal up the crack till you find something? You may have to get the whole kit. Slim prospects on the boot. I didn't pay too much attention but I thought my '04 has a double cardigan u joint on that side.

Yeh, i know that there are 2 types of front axles in use, the one with U-joints and the one i have with CV-joints. Will make some temporary repair to avoid grease going out and dirt going into the joint. But it looks strange that i should have to buy a whole new CV-joint when only the boot is cracked.

The issue here is how long it was cracked before you caught it. If you drove it on muddy roads or rain and got ANY dirt in there the cv joint is probably on its way out already. They can't tolerate dirt at all. A lot of people on the other Jeep sites are changing over to the cardigan style for that reason. The only problem with that is the yokes, especially the front diff. You have to pull the old yoke, install the new yoke and crush sleeve, torque it to specs and hope your lash stayed the same. I don't know maybe the cv kit may be a good idea. Good luck bud.
