Fuel leak

My wj sprung a leak on the nylon fuel line running from the filter back to the pump.

Has anyone had success using a compression fitting to re join the nylon lines? I ask because it stretches far enough to be repaired.

I would like to avoid dropping the tank at all costs as my skid plate is in hospice and I can't cut a hole in the spare now as I have a fuel leak.. Thanks!
