fuel pump wire harness

i'm trying to get the wire harness quick disconnect apart and i'm failing to do so. used a screw driver to try to pry it apart but it's seized together. i've been fighting with it for a half hour now and it's the last thing to get apart before dropping skid plate/tank.

any advise is appreciated

Re: fuel pump wire harness

I did drop my tank some years ago and i don't remember any problems with the connectors. Also don't remember exact which type of connector it has. Is it one with a small red tab?

Re: fuel pump wire harness

yeah, it had a small red clip. i did get it after a bit more fighting. had some sand and dirt in it causing it to stick. grabbed a small jewelers screwdriver and pried it apart at the base.

i've got questions about the plastic fuel lines too. fuel leak i have is caused by the metal connection above the tank corroded away. pretty much snapped right off when i grabbed it. i'm wondering if patching them up with rubber hoses and clamps would suffice or if i have to drop the load of money to replace them.

Re: fuel pump wire harness

I do think that, due to the pressure which is in that line, that it would be better (safer) to use a metal line again. Ask around at the dealer, maybe its even not that expensive.
