Grand Cherokee WJ(?WK) Key Fob/Case

Hi All,

My key fob has been playing up, I think the contact pads have lost their conductivity. I managed to get it working, sort of, by sticking small pieces of kitchen foil on the pads, but it's not 100% satisfactory.

I'm reluctant to buy a new fob as they are £60 from a UK main dealer ($85) plus whatever rip-off charge they make for programming.

The attached jpegs show which type of fob it is.

Does anyone know where I can get a replacement case, with all the interior gubbins except the PCB, which I can transfer from my old fob, or even just the clear plastic moulding that carries the contact pads?

Any suggestions will be most welcome.

T.I.A.

Tony N

Re: Grand Cherokee WJ(?WK) Key Fob/Case

I have exactly the same key fobs and one of the 2 has the same problem. Just normal wear of the contact. Never heard of them selling separate parts of the key fob. Maybe that an electronics repair shop could do something to repair the contacts.

Re: Grand Cherokee WJ(?WK) Key Fob/Case

I've heard of people soldering the contacts. Mine got completely fried so I had no option but to get the dealer to replace and reprogramme it.

Grand total....£120!!!

All because of a flat battery

Have a look on eBay, you'll probably find something there. Don't think they'll sell spare parts from the keyfob at the dealers...

Re: Grand Cherokee WJ(?WK) Key Fob/Case

Just buy a new key fob on eBay and replace the internals w/ yours.

*EDIT*

I did a QUICK eBay search for "2003 Grand Cherokee Key Fob" and found these. New Keyfob for $14. New replacement pads and case for $7 and $10.
