Heat not working on driver side in 03' Limited?

Has anyone had this issue? I only get cold air out of my driver side vents. Its an 03' Limited with Dual Climate control. Im guessing its not the blend doors since I do get air so im not sure what it could be, but its no fun in this cold weather. The passenger side heat does work though.

Re: Heat not working on driver side in 03' Limited?

It's your blend doors. Theres a set of them. One for the driver side and one for the passenger. My guess is that the driver side door broke where the actuater connects.

Re: Heat not working on driver side in 03' Limited?

I assume that you have tried cycling the control from lo to hi and back.

Sometimes mine will stick until I do that and then it will work again. If that does not work for you, then it is probably time for the blend door repair.

Re: Heat not working on driver side in 03' Limited?

haha thanks guys I was hoping it wasn't the blend doors but I thought with a blend door issue I wouldn't get any air at all. 34k miles on it and already a few grand in repairs. I swear the guys who assembled my Jeeps must have been on bathroom breaks during its assembly line run, my WK is missing screws and bolts everywhere and the WJ has had every issue known to man.

Re: Heat not working on driver side in 03' Limited?

You really have to love a WJ. There's not a single reason to own one based on the maintenance and repair cost of these Jeeps. My '99 liked to lock up brake calipers once a year and there were squeeks and the occasional clunk that will go to who ever happens to buy it next. That said, there will be a 2004 Overland replacing my 2002 Limited in another 4 or 5 years. Yup, I'm in love.

Yep, blend doors. Mine is in for repair yesterday and today. Hoping to start the New Year off with no more issues on the Jeep (fingers crossed).

Maybe a lot of JGC were built on Friday afternoons or Monday mornings.

Re: Heat not working on driver side in 03' Limited?

Do you have any error codes? It's so easy to bring up the diagnostics. If you have a code, you might be able to reset the system and because the code is gone, your doors will cal. and start working fine.

It is a shame that so many do have issues with the control doors, which is most likely a design problem, but remember that for every person that is saying they will never own another one, there is someone saying that about their ride too.

I sometimes wonder if an accumulation of dust and dirt gets collected on the fabric of those doors. Then when the motors try driving them to position, they do not move as freely as they did when new causing the hinges and drive connections to fail. I think the cabin filter was an option and perhaps should have been standard so as to trap or filter out the contamination which may be causing the problems. Like so many others, I wonder when mine will act up. My recirc. door makes noise during calibration. It sounds awful !

The cabin air filter is a smart move, will prevent all the pine needles, leaves, dirt from rotting the condenser and heater core.
