Really? I didn't know they issued a TSB about it. Yeah I'll be honest, if it happened to me or any other major problem, Im selling this truck off Its just not worth the headache and $$$$.

True but it would be nice if Jeep/Chrysler could give a handout to people with this problem because its such a well known problem.

Timmy we know your a good person and would never do that but for the record that might help in some instances.

Re: Heater Blowing Cold Air Only

In my previous 94 GC this blend door issue made me get a new car, my 05 WK I have right now. Like I wrote before, the heat stopped working and it was the blend door motor, and the repair cost at a shop was alot and to do it myself involded removing alot of the dashboard. My cousin was able to turn the door in there but the heat still sucked. I drove around one whole winter with NO heat, I would wake up and drive to work in my Carhartt full suit to be warm, even got an electric blanket. The following year one day i woke up and it was freezing out, I said F this and went to buy another car, no heat and having over 227K miles I figured it was time anyways.

But if I didnt have the money saved for a newer vehicle I would def go to a salvage yard and buy a new unit and put it in myself. Might take a full days work on a weekend but would be worth it and I know anyone here can do it with simple tools and some patience.

100% true story, my hood on my last 94 GC was so rusted along the front edge I had duct tape ran along it to hold it down. I found a junk yard with the same exact color GC, the Jeep was all the way in the back of this huge salvage yard, I took that hood off and shoved it over the fence. That night I went with my crazy cousin on a hike thru the woods to get it. Free hood. dam im cheap.

Re: Heater Blowing Cold Air Only

This same thing happened to my Gf's WJ 01 and I found out that she was low on antifreeze. I know it may sound stupid, but I'd check that before everyone gets all freaked out!! Her truck was above the add line, so I added enough to go just below the full line and ran it for a while.

Also id look at your thermostat. My WK was running cool and only blowing out cold air, and my thermostat was the issue. I personally didn't notice it was running cool until I was throwing 3 check engine lights.

Just some other options to look into...

Re: Heater Blowing Cold Air Only

A bad thermostat would def make the car run cold, you would notice it takes forever for the engine temp to reach operating temp. I luv my WK, by the time im 1/4 mile down the street in the morning my heat is already blowing hot air, heats up great.

Re: Heater Blowing Cold Air Only

I had a Jet 180 in mine and thought that it was causing the problem so I swapped the stock thermostat back in, and coolant is at the full mark.

The bloody blend doors is broken and I have to accept it...lol...I won't fix it, because I'm not dumping $1200+ into it just to have heat. I will trade it before I even consider fixing the blend doors.

Re: Heater Blowing Cold Air Only

^^^ Reach up in there and try and turn the door to full open, that way you have heat at least, then come spring/summer close the door again.

I think this is mainly WJ's and any previous gens. I haven't heard of WK's having this problem.

Like I said if I get this problem, theres no way I'm gonna fix it. I'll probably roll with no heat or sell/get rid of the truck.

Re: Heater Blowing Cold Air Only

Just another example of Chrysler mess-up's which is why im debating whether I want another one. On my parents 03' Limited so far the blend doors went and had to be repaired, the melting wiring harness for the HVAc system problem occured and had to be fixed and now its still not blowing hot air out of the drivers side vents. The car has 34k miles and with the problems it has and had you would think it had 134k
