Heating help please...

I've just bought a 2002 Limited 4.7 WJ as my XJ decided to die on me and it doesn't seem to want to get fixed!
I have an issue with the heating and want to know where is the best place to start.
It has had a secondhand complete heater and a secondhand control panel fitted last year and heat only comes out of it when the controls are at lo and not hi.
It seems like it's reversed, cold now hot and hot now cold.
I did a diagnostic check on the display and it came up with the fault codes...
52 = AI (Recirc) door travel range too large
54 = Left temperature door travel too large
55 = Right temperature door travel too small
56 = Right temperature door travel too large

I cleared the codes and when i checked again, none were found.
It still does the same, plus it's not the hottest of heat.

Today I did the calibration test on it by removing the IOD fuse etc. thinking that it may have needed calibration since it's had a complete heater change, but this didn't make any difference. I also did the diagnostic test again, and the same fault codes returned.

Has anyone else had/got the same cold/hot hot/cold issue?
Any ideas to where is the best place to start?
I'm assuming the blend doors or heater was faulty previously which is why I assume it got changed.

Thanks in advance

Re: Heating help please...

Very strange that it gives a right temp door travel too large and a too small travel at the same time. Do you know which model year AC control head unit was installed? When im not wrong are 99-02 one P/N and 03-04 different P/N. Difference seems to be with the programming.
When you did the calibration, did you hear the actuators move?

Re: Heating help please...

Cheers for the reply Frango100
That would explain a couple of things to me.
I don't know which part number is on the control unit just yet, I'll remove it and check tho.
I didn't actually hear the actuators move, but today I had the glovebox down and I know the actuator for the drivers side (front of heater box) moves with the dial, but when I put a mirror and light up behind the heater, I noticed that with moving the passengers side dial, the actuator didn't move.
When I turn the ignition on, both of the actuator's go through their cycle, but no movement on the rear via the dial.
It's a RHD by the way, so not sure if it's the same on LHD.
It's possible that when the heater and control unit got changed, they put a post 2003 set up in there.
