In all my years at the dealer, we always put in the same that we pulled out. Case always looked the same as original.

Quite possibly wrong unit, IMHO

Re: High idle problems

OK was able to get to computer place and they gave me another computer went home replaced computer reconnected battery and card started reeving up and down between 1000 and 600 rpms for a few minutes and then level out at about 750 turned on air it went up slightly Less then 775 more or less but check engine light came on. Drove car about 25 miles got on expressway took it to about 75 car ran great no idle problems at all. Got home and did the key thing to get code, and got, p0601 again, disconnected battery to clear code and it did but did the up and down again leveled out again but check engine light back on again. Guess that means computer is bad? Right?
Thanks again

I would recommend getting a DEALER replacement, not from the outside market. I had a 1999 wrangler come in with 3 computers replaced from the same company. They complained on and on, but bought one from my dealership, and havent had a problem since.

Just a suggerstion, not the GOSPEL, if you know what I mean.

Re: High idle problems

About 3-400, but I'd rather see it done right, than not. That was the same place the TJ I worked on got theirs from.

Re: High idle problems

Called a couple of local dealers here they want between 595 to 875 dealers, so decided to go back to computer place they gave me another one but this time they said I needed to have replaced it with battery connected cause when in learning mode which is how it come up in if there is an ARC from battery it shorts out computer. Any way figured it was 10 minutes to replace and I was already on this horse so went home replaced it with battery on an it came right up no adjusting from engine, drove it for 45 min, city and took turnpike drove it it for approx 50 miles, its running great no missing no problems what so ever, so I guess ill wait and see what happens. Does that make sense, replace without disconnecting batt? Wish me luck. lol
Thank for your help if I have another problem I guess Ill have to go the dealer route.
He did say if I get another 601 code its in the car itself, otherwise I would have gone dealer route. Does it make sense something can be shorting out computer? And if so any ideas, sorry rambling guess I ll cross that bridge if I have to.
Thanks again

Re: High idle problems

According to them its only when you replace it. They must program it blank so when its powered up it comes in a read write mode. Once its done it doesn't matter. Just glad its working, we will see how it goes after a week or so. Any arcing messes it up and then has to be replaced. At least thats what they told me
