How to remove "Wait" Message?

Hi guys, hope you are all well

So my WJ went in for a major repair after the Key actuator pin broke, the guys who fixed it had to disconnect the battery when working on it as they also did a major service, anyway, when I picked it up the Radio had a message saying Code, being an idiot I typed in the wrong code 3 times and then the message switched to "Wait", I've now got the Code from my Dad and need to enter it in, so I was asking if anyone here knows an easier way to get rid of it than leaving the ignition on for 2hours, so I can get it back to the Code message?

Don't think there is an other way, just wait 2 hours.

Re: How to remove "Wait" Message?

Crap, that sucks, I don't have any time to leave it like that, I'm running around all day and dead tired by the time I get home. Someone over at 4x4 Community forum tells me it's fine, I must just drive around without Radio for a while and after a few trips over a couple of days the counter will eventually bring it back to asking for the Code, is it true, will it work? Must I drive around with it on or off? E.g. Should I leave it saying Wait or just turn it off and turn it back on after a few days?

Re: How to remove "Wait" Message?

Not 100% sure, but i think that it doesn' t need.to be switched on. The ignition switch doesn' t need to be in run, you could also put it in acc position to have the radio powered.

You may well find that you will soon have a flat battery as a lot of electrical systems are left running when the key is in accessory position. Up to 10 amps can be drawn.

Re: How to remove "Wait" Message?

Not much else I can do, in anyway I've got jumper cables and a VW Jetta parked next to my WJ, so if I do find it low on battery I'll just boost it.

In ACC position there is power to the cigar lighter, radio, front wipers and a part of the BCM. Not sure what the BCM is doing with this power, but it is probably for some control functions, but should not be that much when the rest of the jeep is without power. But indeed could drain the battery when you leave it on for the whole day.
But thinking about the whole story, did you try to disconnect the battery again for some minutes, to see if it will reset the radio?

Re: How to remove "Wait" Message?

Ran it in Acc mode for 2hours, still nothing, it still says "WAIT", will try disconnecting the battery tomorrow. To disconnect do I just straight up unscrew the wires while the car is totally off? No other things I need to consider?

Thanks again for the help!

Re: How to remove "Wait" Message?

With the ignition in off, just remove the negative connector from the battery for some minutes and reconnect again. If that doesn't work, the radio has to be on for those 2 hrs.

Re: How to remove "Wait" Message?

Managed to fix it!!

I found a tutorial vid of how to remove the WJ Radio from the dash, I then removed my Radio and unplugged it, took around 10mins, I then went to bed, this morning I got into my car, reconnected the radio and put it back in, turned the car on, still said WAIT, but I typed in '1234' then I turned the engine on and BAM, it asked for the code, typed it in and all is well, my stations are all there and I'm all good to go happy days
