Humming at 65mph

I just installed a 2" lift, had an alignment and now after 65mph I have a humming noise near the front. When banking left the humming goes away. 4.7 quadra-trac II.

Wheel bearings? Hub assemblies?

Thanks in advance,
Weston

Re: Humming at 65mph

The wheel bearing and hub are sold as one assembly.
It is always difficult to find out what is causing a noise. Could be a wheel bearing, could be a CV joint. I would wait and see if it gets worse.
Just to be sure, check the diff and t-case fluid levels.

Re: Humming at 65mph

I just replaced my diff fluids but I can check to make sure it's full. I also plan on doing the transfer case once the weather cooperates.

If it starts getting worse, I may go ahead and replace the entire assemblies - can't hurt. The only thing that lead me to a wheel bearing was that when turning slightly to the left, the noise/humming goes away. Would a CV joint create that noise too? It also got louder after my alignment, which could have just amplified the humming...

Re: Humming at 65mph

Did you check the CV joint boot for damage? If ok, i would just wait until the noise becomes anoying.

I'll check those today. I installed the lift a week ago and didn't notice anything. I'll double check though...

Would something happen within the front diff with a lift that would cause this humming noise? Especially when I move the steering wheel to the right?

And found out tonight first-hand about the dreaded death wobble. Now to chase that problem...

Check all steeering end links and suspension parts for play. It seems that by lifting a jeep, it will become more sensitive and cause sooner a death wobble with some play in the steering or suspension parts.

Jeep is at the mechanics today - what brand do you suggest going with as far as TRE and Drag Link Ends? - Moog?

Not that familiar with the quality of the brands, but heard good things about Moog.

Re: Humming at 65mph

Mechanic said Hub Assembly on the drivers side was shot - explains my humming and from what I understand, part of my wobble. I'm replacing both sides to be proactive, vs. reactive.
