#1 cylinder is at the back of the motor. I think some carbon in the cylinder could have been knocked loose. Clear the code and see if the code reappears. If the code does reappear then pull the plug, make sure the plug has no cracks in it, that the plug is gapped correctly and clean it.

:eek:hsnap:

I have to say after further research that I was wrong on the cylinder order. The count starting at the front and going back is 1,2,3,4,5,6. Also I have to say that I have no idea why I thought the way I did, but I cannot explain why yesterday was like it was either. I am going to blame the lunar cycles!;)

Hi,
I was wondering can I use any I6 4.0 HO engine in my 2000 GJC Laredo, or what years can I use besides 99-04 series? My #4 cylinder piston is totally in my oil pan but, the engine still started and ran, I was totally surpise by that. Damn go engine, for it to start missing a piston and it did not sound to bad, like a lifter ticking.

I do not know what the internal damage is in your current motor, but you may be able to pull and refurbish your current motor for the same as pulling and reinstalling a remanufactured motor. But you may be able to find a remanufactured motor with a decent warranty for a good price. If not then for emission standards your are going to have to find a 2000 year or newer 4.0 liter to reinstall in your 2000 WJ. A guy drove a wrangler with no oil and a rod thrown through the block and to a dealership I use to work for and then some mechanics drove it another 20 or so miles before the engine finally seized. The 4.0 is the best mechanically built motor in my opinion.
