Question Ignition switch issue?

I just bought an '04 Grand Cherokee - has a 190,000 miles, but runs great. Two issues: 1) The interior lights ONLY come on when the key is in the ignition and either turned to ACC or ON or RUN and 2) the security system does not activate when the vehicle is locked - either with the remote or using the door locks. I'm starting to think it might be an ignition switch issue, but am not sure. Any thoughts?

Re: Ignition switch issue?

Could also be a body control module (BCM) issue, i believe the security system is controlled by that and lighting would be too.

Re: Ignition switch issue?

Thanks! Thought of that, too, but was hoping for a simpler and less expensive solution....

Re: Ignition switch issue?

Fixed it! Turns out there were two missing fuses - one was for the interior lights. Replaced that one and another that was missing and now the lights work and the security system works. Now, the question is, why were the fuses missing in the first place? Hopefully, no other problem lurking around the corner now that they have been replaced....

Re: Ignition switch issue?

Odd that the fuses were missing, I wonder if there is another problem, maybe some other fuses blew and they pulled those to get a more critical system running. Keep an eye on things and hopefully they will be ok!
