Interior Light Issue

Just bought a '99 Laredo 4.0L.

The map lights, hatch light, lights for rear passengers, and foot well lights will not work.

I tried turning them on with the multi-function switch, checked the fuse, and tried pressing the hatch light twice.

All other interior lights work, cluster, radio, HVAC, shifter.

Not sure if this is related, but the window switch on the hatch does not work either.

Not sure where to go from here. Any info would be great.

Re: Interior Light Issue

Welcome to the garage.
You did check both fuse 15 (50A) in the PDC under the hood and fuse 8 (15A) on the junction block?
If so, check with a voltmeter if you have 12V at fuse 8 on the JB. Power for mentioned lights and the flipup glass unlock comes from the same source.

Re: Interior Light Issue

I was checking fuse #7 (10A) instead of #8... I guess that's what I get for being up for 20 hours and then working on the WJ.

Thanks for the reply. Replace #8 fuse and all is well.

Re: Interior Light Issue

The 2-2 sensor is used for catalyst monitoring. OEM sensors are normally from Denso. Eventhough Bosch makes good sensors, they heat up more slowly and can give you an O2 sensor fault code again.

Re: Interior Light Issue

Already bought the Bosch sensor, should I exchange it for the Denso ?

Also, what coolant should I use ? Going to flush it.

Re: Interior Light Issue

There are people using Bosch without issues, but also several others tried it and it gave the fault code. If possible i would change it to a Denso, just to prevent problems.
Regarding the coolant, we probably have other brands here. Get the coolant from the stealer, or any good brand which is good in aluminum/iron engine.

HOAT coolant (the orange stuff, not the green) is what is recommended. I believe, and I could be wrong about this, they switched from the green to the orange at some point during production of the WJ. My 99 originally had the green (and still does as I have never changed it out), but many newer WJs that I have seen have the orange. Supposed to provide less corrosion to the aluminum pieces as well as the rubber hoses. Some people say to but it in the non 50/50 form and to mix it yourself with distilled water, but I have never had a problem. Might be something to search around and see what people say about it.
