lights "on" with wipers "on"

04' Overland - In the overhead computer I have "Y" under LIGHTS "ON" WITH WIPERS "ON". My lights are in AUTO setting all the time. But when I turn my wipers ON the lights does not turn ON. Lights and wipers works just fine. Am I missing something?

Do you have rain sensing wipers? When rain is sensed the lights automaticly activate.
Just guessing but it makes sense.
Good luck.

Re: lights "on" with wipers "on"

Strange, but i have never heard of this option on the EVIC. I know about the automatic function on the switch stalk, but thought that it was only working with the light sensor. Can also not find any information about it in the service manual.

Re: lights "on" with wipers "on"

Yes, I do have the rain sensing wipers. But this option should activate 10-15 sec after the wipers switch is moved from "0" position and lights are set at "auto". The delay is to avoid the lights coming "on" during quick window wiper wash. I also have a '04 chrysler 300m with the same overhead EVIC and same menu (no rain sensing wipers) and everything works this way. Just drove the Jeep in a rain yesterday and lights never came ON......I changed the menu option to "N" and back to "Y" but still doesn't work.

Re: lights "on" with wipers "on"

Sorry to hear about the problem, but mine works just fine, the lights come on when I turn on the wipers. I don't know what controls this, sounds like maybe a communications issue with the BCM. Have you tried pulling off the negative battery cable for a few minutes to reset the computers?

Re: lights "on" with wipers "on"

I also think it is a communication error. I did not try to disconnect the battery yet. I don't want to mess up something else, because the jeep runs fine. Ligths work in AUTO just fine and if I need them ON during the day I can switch them manually. I was hopping that there is an easy fix.
Thanks!

Re: lights "on" with wipers "on"

Turn both the headlights and wipers to first click auto. Spray windshield with water and see what happens. Go from there.
