Loose output shaft transfercase 2000 limited

could anyone give me advice on the rear output shaft on the transfer case on a 2000 limited with the quadra-drive. loose up and down and clunks on a rough road with no throttle, just coasting. put power to it and it stops. how hard is it to put the tailshaft off and replace bearings and seals?

Re: Loose output shaft transfercase 2000 limited

it its just the tailshaft bearing its a piece of cake and doable in the jeep. Take off the driveshaft and remove the 4 bolts holding the tail cone on. Pull it off, remove the snap ring and knock the old bearing out and put the new one in, install snap ring. May as well replace the seal while its out. If its the bearing further in, you'll have the pull the tcase out and split it.
