Is there a way to make the steering on the wj or any car more accurate and get more feel out of the steering wheel? (by modding the tie-rod ends or something?)
Yeah just disconnect them, but you need to undo the coupling from the steering shaft to the steering box to get the best result. Works a treat and is an easy job.
Difficult to gauge...... it definately felt lighter in the steering, but what "feel' there was felt really good.
It really is an easy job, so easy i wouldn't even bother to do it myself, I'd swing by the guys who service the Jeep and explain what you want done. Shouldn't be more than minimum charge.
From memory it's in the engine bay, just locate it by following the steering shaft from your steering wheel through the firewall into the engine compartment. It should be easily located, and from memory there is 4 bolts. It's kinda round if ya know what I mean.
if you locate the parts like I explained, it will be self-explanatory.
Tie rod ends can be done with a pair of pliers to remove split pins, a shifter or spanner to undo the nuts, and a heavy hammer to bash out the tie rods.
Dont forget to replace the power steering reservior with a bigger 5 gallon unit. The extra fluid will help out a ton with handling and steering feedback....
