Thumbs down Mystery flat tire

Ive had the Jeep for about a year now and when I had purchased it all four tires were brand new. BUT the right rear tire always slowy leaked from where? no idea, it wasn't so bad during the summer but now that its been real cold the air seems to pour out to the point where i had to fill it 4 times a week. LAST week i got so pissed at it that i decided to put a can of fix a leak or whatever its called and it worked fine for a whole week. When i left for work tonight drove on the GCP (anybody from queens ny would know thats its bumpy as hell right now) made it all the way to work and when I got out of my car the tire was FULLY deflated... and i'm not sure if i drove it like that or if it happened gradually while driving but im definetly concerned about the rim. it doesn't look like any damage was dealth to it and theres no cracks that i can see. Bottom line im getting rid of the tire tomorrow and having the rim checked. Good thing i have no bills to pay this week

added: BTW i took it to 3 seperate places 1st guy said theres a small dent in the tire 2nd guy said nothing is wrong with the tire 3rd guy said nothing is wrong with the tire...

Re: Mystery flat tire

really doesn't take much of a tear, also there is a small seal on the valve itself... could easily deflate a tire overnite

Re: Mystery flat tire

When i have to replace a tire, i allways ask them to change the Stems/valves as well. Not too expensive and at least youre sure that these are ok.
When you took your car to the mechanics, didnīt they put the complete wheel in a water bath, to check for any leak? That should have pointed out any leak if present.

Re: Mystery flat tire

Have them check for a valve stem leak or a bead seal leak. One time my Mustang would leak air slowly. I would fill it to 38psi and in 2 days it would be down to 20psi. I took it to the local tire shop and it was a bead seal leak.

Re: Mystery flat tire

You want to break the tire down anyway cause you want to get that fix a flat out because it will give you a vibration. That stuff is alright to get ya home but you shouldn't leave it in a high speed tire.

Re: Mystery flat tire

Not sure about this tire stuff. I had it in my front motorcycle tire without knowing it and never felt any vibration. Just when i changed the tire some months ago i found it out. As soon as you start driving, the liquid spreads itself out evenly around the whole tire by the centrifugal force and should not cause any vibration.

The fix a flat stuff is suppose to harden and not stay liquid. I'm not sure how they balanced your motorcycle tires, but on mine they poured a couple ounces of beads in them. Then they spread out w/ the centrifugal force to balance the tire. Ooze would prevent that from happening.
