Need help locating the Body Control Module

We have been having problems with the Brake Lights not working if Head lights are on and have tested Bulbs and Ground Wires and found they are working properly...Third Overhead Brake Light Works also... If Head Lights are on or IF the Brake is Pushed the Brake Lights are not on at the same time...

A Mechanic Friend Suggested to change out the BCM (Body Control Module) but we do not have an owners manual and cannot locate the BCM. Could anyone HELP...Please?! Thank you so much!

Re: Need help locating the Body Control Module

Symptoms like that are usually a ground issue.Try scotchbrite
on the brass looking tabs on the bulb socket and also on the contact ring where the socket twists into the tail light lens My wife's wj had problems like that and that was the culprit.
Hope this helps.

Re: Need help locating the Body Control Module

Thank you for your reply...The only thing is the lights actually do work EXCEPT when Headlights are ON.. We do appreciatte the help though.
The TESTER shows that there is power coming to the lights..it just won't work when plugged in...Not enough ground getting to the rear brake lights.

Re: Need help locating the Body Control Module

Looking into the wiring schematic, the BCM is not involved in the brake light operation. It can be a ground problem, eventhough the LH, RH and top brake light have separate grounding points. Each tail light assy shers his ground for tail light and brake light. Are all the bulbs connected correctly (turned in far enough)? You could try to remove one of the tail bulbs and check again. If no help, remove the other one and check again. The top light most probably will not have any effect. Attached the schematic for the brake lights. Succes.

Re: Need help locating the Body Control Module

We wanted to thank EVERYONE who offered suggestions to help us!~

We bent the connector tabs up on the brake light b/c it was not making enough contact. It is now working properly! Thanks again for all of your help. It would have been a longer and more expensive process to fix the BCM.

Your suggestions helped us out of a very frustrating situation. We pray that you will be BLESSED also for your kind efforts.

Have a GREAT DAY
