No air from rear seat vents

Folks,

I recently acquired a 2002 JGC Overland. Getting ready for winter, one of the kids asked about rear seat heat. I said that there are vents under the front seats that send air (ac or heat) to the rear passenger area.

When checking them this weekend, I confirmed that there is no air coming out of those vents. I checked the manual and saw that I have to put the air setting to floor only.

The rest of the climate control system appears to work fine. The previous owner had the blend door problem repaired by the dealer back in 2005. Not sure if the blend door problem affects sending air to the rear seat ducts.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Cameron

Re: No air from rear seat vents

OK. I ran the manual diagnostic and found that I have error code 52 - 52 = AI (Recirc) door travel range too large.

I also checked and there is very very little air coming out of the floor vents for the front passengers as well.

Is this recirc door travel error the source of my lack of air (or heat) to the floor?

Thanks,

Cameron

Re: No air from rear seat vents

I spent some more time playing with this. I cycled through each setting, slowly one by one. I now find that there is one of the settings (a dot setting between two icon settings) where I do get most of the air to the floor including the back seats. I don't know if it was purely a user issue, or cycling through each individual stop point using the mode knob that solved the problem.

Re: No air from rear seat vents

The blend door would just affect heat from side to side, not front/rear. And the recirc door just controls if the system is using outside air or recirculating air from inside the vehicle.
