Question OBD P1762 (M) Help/Suggestions

Scan Code: P1762 (M)

DRB Scan Tool Display: Governor Pressure Sensor Offset Volts Too Low or High

Description of Diagnostic Trouble Code: Sensor input greater or less than calibration for 3 consecutive Neutral/Park occurrences (4-speed auto. trans. only).


This is the second time I've had this code thrown and I think I need to replace both the Governor Sensor and Solenoid. Any suggestions on where to order these parts and how much they will cost?

I looked on RockAuto and they seem to have what I need, Should I try to find the OEM part or get an aftermarket one?

I have always gotten good parts from RockAuto, although I usually avoid the cheapest part they have lol. I have also never been a fan of going to the dealer for parts, usually only as a last resort. Just my opinion. Sounds like you are on the right track to fix that code. Out of curiosity does it just throw a code or does it affect the vehicle in another way?

1) Well the code only it affects it sometimes, The engine light will be lit up periodically (Sometimes the car will run without ever showing the engine light on, other times it will be on the entire time when it does come on.)

2) I have noticed a performance hit. It is extremely slow to accelerate when accelerating from a stopped position. It also sometimes won't shift, and will get stuck in a certain gear. So when your just casually driving and press on the gas it will rev much higher than it's supposed to.

On a side note Aaron, How does the WJ do with a drop-in filter from K&N? My filter hasn't been replaced in god knows when lol. So I'm thinking of the K&N since it's re-washable/re-usable instead of a paper filter. Did you notice any improvements from the stock fitler?

Strange, sounds rather obnoxious. Hope you get it fixed soon.

Not sure how much of it is in my head, but it does seem to wake up a bit with the K&N. Gas mileage is a little better, especially when my wife drives (her foot must weigh half as much as mine, lol). At most mabe .5 -1 mpg if I take it lightly. Not sure if it would affect your 4.0L the same as my 4.7L, but more air flow is usually a good thing, and the washable and reuseable aspect offsets the extra cost.

I got everything figured out, Now I just have to try to figure out how much the Mopar versions of the Solenoid and Sensor will cost versus aftermarket. Also I wanted to get a K&N drop-in as a temporary solution until getting an FIPK.
