Re: oil filters for 4.0 wj

Depends on what motor you have on the WJ. I checked and it appears the PL30001 is the same diameter as the recommended PL14670, just look at both in the store once and make sure the gaskets are the same size and the threads match. That said if you have the 4.0L engine I doubt it will fit (assuming they didn't change the filter location from where it was on my old 4.0L). If you have the 4.7L V8 there should be plenty of room to clear the extra 2 inches in filter length.

Re: oil filters for 4.0 wj

I can't remember the model number, but I ran an oversized filter on my 4.0L XJ. Plenty of clearance.

Re: oil filters for 4.0 wj

I use whatever is on sale for my Jeep. Around the oil filter, there's plenty of room for a longer filter if you want.

Wix 51515

Amsoil Ea015 Stock is EA042

K&N HP-3001

M1 Filter M1301

Ran them all the K&N was by far the easiest to remove later.

Re: oil filters for 4.0 wj

I used FL1A's in both my Jeeps last weekend;
'93 ZJ 4.0L
'04 WJ 4.7L

They fit fine, and offer a lot more filtration surface area.
