Oil Pressure Drop

2000 4.0 GC. My normal oil pressure hangs out around 65 but for the past few days every now and then when I stop at a red light or coast for a while, the oil pressure gauge will drop down to 55 or so. Once I start to accelerate, the pressure starts to rise until finally reaches the normal level.

Does this just happen or is there a reason?

Once warm my old 4.0 would run at those specs once warm, it did have over 200,000 miles on it though.

Re: Oil Pressure Drop

yeah even thirty is decent, again without looking at the specs, typicall chryslers specs are "above 5psi @ idle or above X @ 1500 rpm, the minimum specs are MINIMUM specs, when your reaching the minimum specs there are some problems, but 30psi is healthy.

Re: Oil Pressure Drop

Okay. I just wanted to check. I thought it was within the normal range but thought they sudden decrease and increase were a little odd.
