Oil Pressure, Selec Trac Issue. Related?

Hey all-

Couple of issues with my 2000 WJ 4.0L with Selec-Trac. I've only owned it for a few weeks.

1). Part Time indicator light comes on after I switched thru PT into Full Time. Tends to come on and off arbitrarily. This isn't normal, is it?

2). The other day, I had it 4wd Full Time doing city driving, and after only a few minutes, my oil pressure was maxed out. Put it back in 2wd and before I can pull over, I hit a red and it went right back to normal (which is 40 at idle and 55-60 city/highway).

Any thoughts?

Re: Oil Pressure, Selec Trac Issue. Related?

1. I only run mine in 2WD on the street/no snow. I can't answer for the light issue maybe just the sensor?
2. The engine oil pressure should not have anything to do with 4x2 or 4x4 selection, unless 4low and higher rpms might increase pressure a little.

Re: Oil Pressure, Selec Trac Issue. Related?

I would check the switch on the T-case for the first one. Can be a dirty connector, or the switch itself.
The second one is most probably the oil pressure sending unit.
