Ordered cardone select this afternoon from rockauto!

Thanks for the tip on the alternator, it looks deceivingly like there might be just enough room to sneak it out but maybe not so thanks for the heads up.

I will also be doing a more permanent blend door fix, with 1 door that will work off the drivers side controls, done through the glove box. No more dual climate but when there are 2 of us in the thing we rarely had them much different anyway.

Not positive but I think all 04's California or Federal have 4 O2 sensors because they just have the 2 mini cats in the y pipe. Earlier 4.7s I think are different.

I can fully confirm Dave´s words. I also tried to turn/flip/squeez the pump into all directions and finally ended up removing the alternator.
I could buy a chinese made pump overhere, but opted for an "American" made ACDelco pump. When the shipment arrived, and i very happily opened up the package, i found out that the ACDelco pump was also made in China.
But sofar no complaints about it, runs as it should.

Not sure either I guess but I thought on some early models there were no pre-cats, just the main with an o2 sensor on either side.

Thanks for the tip on the alt Dave and Frank, saves me the embarrassment of finding it out on m own.

RG, Tony and i are both in Ohio... both of us have that blasted California Emissions...ive only replaced one sensor though. i got an NTK from NAPA, i believe. i wish i didnt have that C.E. ive thought about removing the precats, but where my Jeep is titled it has to go through Emissions... so im not sure how that would effect it. (removing meaning get the manifold and down pipe from another 4.0L with out C.E.) i dont see where it benefits anything being in Ohio with it... lol

Re: Oxygen Sensors

I got the new sensors in, the originals came out pretty easy. In fact I think the hardest part was reaching in to disconnect the wires . The original sensors were made by Denso, which is the brand I bought as replacements. I made a 400 mile trip for work out to Michigan today and my mileage does seem to be slightly better, although winter gas still sucks.

New water pump also went in Saturday, thanks again Dave and Frank, pulling the alternator gave us the room we needed to get the pump in and out. While the gasket on there looked ok, you could definitely tell it was leaking coolant around it.

Also, I got the blend doors "fixed". I bought a kit on rockauto.com from Dorman, it had the 2 doors together on a common shaft that are now operated by the drivers side actuator, all done through the glove box. This worked out real slick, the doors fit in place nicely, and the new metal shaft slid right through and everything operates as it should. Wow I can hardly believe it, I now have both cars in good working order!
