P/N for spark plug wires?

Hey guys,

I'm want to replace the spark plugs in my 99 Grand Cherokee Limited with 156k miles (Can't find any reference to the limited--is it just an apperance package?). I just bought it and it needs some TLC as the previous owner didn't take very good care of it.

It's got the 4.0 Six Cylinder with Auto Transmission and I'm looking for a good part number for the spark plug wires (Or a link from Summit or Jegs...or Autozone). I'd prefer to put some MSD wires on it. Also a cap and rotor if that's applicable. I'm a chevy guy at heart and this is my first jeep. I don't know much about them yet so any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Re: P/N for spark plug wires?

This engine doesn't use spark plug wires nor cap and rotor. There is an ignition coil rail with 3 coils for the 6 cylinders.

Well, unless I'm mistaken...these look an awful lot like spark plug wires with a cap/rotor to me. Possible they had some models that used spark plug wires? Also, ignore the date on the picture, I took it 10 minutes ago, it appears I need to reset the date on the camera.

Re: P/N for spark plug wires?

My manual only shows the 2004 model, probably the previous models used the wires/cap/rotor.
Maybe one of the other members can chime in on this.

Re: P/N for spark plug wires?

I don't know what you got in there or how they got it to run right but they never made a '99-'04 GC that used a cap, rotor or wires.

Ok, I looked at a 97 model that is also a British version (steering wheel on the right side) and it has a cap and rotor. Did the earlier version (98 and earlier) of the Grand Cherokee use a cap and rotor? I suppose the car may be registered wrong...or maybe they swapped motors?

My other Jeep is a '93. Has the same set up as yours.

Re: P/N for spark plug wires?

Now that's interesting. I wonder if the the British version didn't do the coil-pack change over on a different date...if at all? Or...maybe mine really isn't a 99.

Have to make 2 more posts before I can send a PM to someone. An odd rule, but a rule none the less.

Last post. I won't do a dumb post like this again. Well, I hope not anyway! At least it's a nice day out.

Re: P/N for spark plug wires?

The '98 and earlier v8s used wires so I'm guessing the 6 did also. Could you post a picture of your Jeep?
