Parts Help...

Hey all, first time poster. New jeep owner... never been so greasy under the hood in my life lol.

I'm running into some issues with my WJ. I've got a 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited (the one with the big 4.7L V8, Dual environmental controls, and all that fancy jazz) and I need some replacement parts. Problem is, I can't find them.

1.) My driver's side seat has seized up. It's no big deal for me, because it seized up at my settings, unfortunately, the car is for my wife who is much smaller. The track under the seat is showing some signs of rust (I live in Florida, let's hear it for humidity) and I think it's just gummed up the works. I can't find a track anywhere. I've worn out my local pull and pay. All they have are Laredos and I can't find any place on line that isn't asking an arm or a leg. These are the memory seats, and I'd like to keep it that way if I can.

2.) The cord that goes from the AC system under the hood to the AC box under the glovebox is frayed. It worked, but would occasionally short out. I took it to a mechanic to get it checked and he made it worse, so now I don't have any AC (see Florida comment above). It's not the standard cord that I find. It's got three wires coming into it instead of the normal 2 and has a slightly different connector end. I can't find this cord anywhere. I think it's probably specific to the Dual Climate AC.

Can anyone help me out and suggest locations to get these parts? My wife is unable to drive the car that she's been looking forward to having and I'm losing husband points lol.

Thanks all,
Aaron P

Welcome to the garage Aaron.
It is not uncommon for the seat motors not to be able to move the seat due to too much force needed. Some lubrication of the tracks and the spindles normally does miracles. You could start with some WD40 to get it running again, but I would use a light coat of grease to keep it lubricated for a longer time.
Did you try a junk yard for the AC wire bundle? Look for a same year jeep with dual climate control.

The weird part about the seat is that it moves the seat up to a point. I can get my torque screw driver out and force it past that point and it will move again, then get to another point where it won't move again. maybe some grease is what the doctor ordered there. I'll keep fighting with it.

I think I found the AC cord I needed on Amazon tonight, of all places. I've been to the local junk yard constantly and haven't found the right cord (no systems with dual climate control). Can't find the right seat either, but cest la vi. The bigger issue is the AC, and if the cord off of amazon works... I might be back in business :D

Thanks, Frango100! I'll let you know how the grease trick works.
