I am looking for a PCM for my 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo 4.7 V8.
There would be a slight logistical issue to sort out as I am in South Africa, but does anyone have one spare for my Jeep that you want to sell ?

Chrysler Part # p56041836ae

(I guess PayPal + Fedex would resolve most of these though ...)

Is your jeep maybe an European build WG? I don´t know why, but they use for several, the same, items different P/N´s compared to American build WJ´s and European build WG´s. Don´t know about the compatibility.
The P/N you gave is indeed the PCM, i found one in Denmark. Eventhough they have the option for English on that site, the translation doesn´t work very well: http://www.ditonet.dk/index.asp?id=79&modelId=1151

On my WG i still have a placard on the drivers door where is mentioned the place of build, date and all kind of other info. Brazilian Jeeps are build in Austria (at least mine is), so it could be that yours is too.
The next site has refurbished PCM´s. Quite expensive though. They can also rebuild your PCM: http://www.autotekcarparts.com/index.php?Page=PopupPart&PartNumber=&PartID=30780&&lang=US
What is in fact the reason that you have to change the PCM?

When trying to start my Jeep, it only cranks and then after a few seconds a key with a cross through it appears on the dash.

I had the car towed to a dealer who diagnosed it as the PCM, but a new one is just way to expensive for me, hence looking for another one.

Apparently the PCM does not send the signals to the SKIM module anymore to deactivate the immobilizer.

Did you already try cleaning all connectors on the PCM? That company which i showed the site on my last reply, they charge 80 USD for a check and small repair on the PCM.
There is also a possibility of the SKIS delete. One of the members overhere did it.

I don´t know how many jeeps where sold overthere and if you could find some on the junkyard?

Have you tried to see if the key is loose in the ignition housing?
I have a similar problem with my WJ in that, I have some key play in the ignition which is enough to not engage the key when I turn it over. I just make sure that when turning the key it makes a solid contact for it to work.
